Growing up near the German border, Mike Arntz was exposed to music at an early age, with records by Neil Diamond and James Last frequently played at home. The Sonntagskonzert also aired every Sunday, alongside various Kult Schlagers.

A few years later, his musical journey changed forever when he discovered Hilversum 3 and Alfred Lagarde's Betonuur. Music from KISS, Van Halen, Journey, and Status Quo captivated him, and he was hooked on metal. Eager to explore, he dove deep into the metal universe.

As a radio maker for various pirate and local stations, Mike eventually landed at NPO Radio 2 via Caroline Brouwer (sidekick Rob Stenders). Together, they produced the podcast De Harde Bonanza for BNNVARA, a metal version of Stenders Platenbonanza.

When Rob and Caroline moved to Veronica in 2021, NPO Radio 2 sought a new metal partner for Mike. This led to a collaboration with AVROTROS and Suzanne Bosman, resulting in De Keiharde Pödcast for nine seasons.

Since September 2024, Mike Arntz hosts a two-hour metal radio show on Kink Distortion.
