Mario Gulisano is a Sicilian producer, composer, musician, and festival organizer. He began his musical career in the 1980s with the creation of the independent record label Edith Music, which gained international recognition in the underground music market. He has produced over 30 albums and various recordings. In 1998, he founded the Associazione Culturale Darshan, promoting Sicilian culture nationally and internationally. Through his involvement with groups like Nakaira, Oi Dipnoi, and Quartetto Aresud, he has researched Mediterranean traditions, performing at major international folk and world music festivals. Since 1998, through Darshan, he has conceived and produced numerous festivals focused on ethnic, world, and folk music, such as Classica & Dintorni, Tarantafest, Alkantara Fest, Meltin'folk, and Zampognarea. Since 2016, he has coordinated Ethno Sicily, a program for young non-professional folk musicians, and for the past six years, he has been coordinating and producing European projects co-funded by Creative Europe, including Nufolk Global Connections, Common Routes, and Music in the Circle.
